Initial Thoughts:

I'll say right away, I'm using up Cineplex promo codes. When you get a popcorn + drink combo here you get a promo code sent to you that is used for the rental of a digital movie. I've started to build up some (and they do expire) so I was home alone Friday night and watched this.

Main Points:

Ok I'll admit the other reason I watched this, Mark O'Brien is from Newfoundland and I've met him. He used to be in a local show called "Republic of Doyle" and I do enjoy seeing where his career takes him (I'd argue he's had the most success out of anyone on that show). He's in the movie and is one of the main characters, so I watched it.

It is an interesting idea for a movie, basically, this woman marries into this super-rich family and doesn't realize (I mean who would?) that they are all Satan worshipers with a crazy pact with the devil (yeah that's a bit spoilery but who cares).

The movie is really far fetched but there are some fun moments. It's also full of gory violence and certainly earns its R rating. The acting ranges from good to mediocre and there are a few twists that I didn't see coming. If I had to pick I'd say O'Brien, Brody, and Weaving all do a good job. O'Brien in particular has some nice moments and tries to rise up a mediocre movie.

Final Thoughts:

The film eventually just becomes another horror movie with a supernatural element and I was glad it was only 1.5 hours, there just isn't enough substance for it go any longer. If you have some Cineplex promo codes/points to use maybe give a watch. Just a 6 out of 10 from, it could have been a really interesting/different movie but it just isn't. Due to violence, drug use, and some suggested sex I would say ages 18+.
