Initial Thoughts:

I want to state right away that I have a limited viewpoint/understanding of this movie as a man, women are often treated unfairly and sadly even horribly by men. I think this is an important movie to raise awareness of what it is like for women in the world even in 2021. In any case, my wife saw this movie and said I should see it too, so when it showed up on Cineplex I did.

Main Points:

Carey Mulligan is amazing here and was well deserved with her Oscar nod (I hope she wins won soon). The film draws you in right away and you soon see that while Cassandra's behavior is extreme, it is entirely warranted and any man she targets deserves what he gets.

I thought everyone does well in the acting department her and the story is excellent and well-deserving of Best Orginal Screenplay from the Academy. There are some good twists and turns so I will not comment further on the plot.

Everything about this movie is well done including the creation of atmosphere with lighting, camera work, and music. The end is bittersweet but still satisfying and fitting.

Final Thoughts:

I think any man (or woman) who is 18+ should watch this movie. It will make you think about how society works, the way women are treated (by men and other women), and perhaps even help bring more equal and ethical behavior when it comes to how women are treated. I give it a solid 8 out of 10, I really enjoyed it (though I found it disturbing), I think one scene perhaps goes too far but maybe people need to be shocked into taking action. Take some time to think about this movie afterward, highly recommended for anyone who can handle this serious subject material.
