Details from IMDB:

Batman: Assault on Arkham

Batman works desperately to find a bomb planted by the Joker while Amanda Waller hires her newly formed Suicide Squad to break into Arkham Asylum to recover vital information stolen by the Riddler.

Initial Thoughts:

Anyone who has read this blog knows I love Batman, he is (and will always be) my favourite comic book character. So I was home one Saturday night (with a friend) and decided to watch this. It good fairly good reviews and I was curious to see how far they would go with PG-13.

Main Points:

I got my answer quickly on the PG-13 issue, this movie certainly pushes the boundary of what you can do with this rating. No nudity but it's close (including a sex scene!) and there is some brief somewhat graphic violence at times. This plot is ok but where this really shines is with the characters and action scenes.

Batman is a hard character to do right but they do a great job here making him tough, smart, mysterious, and yet still human and beatable. I really like how they show that to a regular person Batman would be terrifying in real life (even if he came to save you), the same goes for the Joker (though he almost never saves anyone!). Fight scenes are top-notch, good voice work and I found myself laughing a few times at Harley Quinn, the voice for her is quite good.

Final Thoughts:

Please don't let kids watch this, ages 13+ for sure. I would recommend it to any Batman fan as it is certainly one of the better DC animated movies (most of them are good, better often than live-action ones!). A solid 7.5 out of 10 from me and a short review, until next time!
