So the only movie company/chain by me is Cineplex (when I mean by me I mean literally the only one on the island) and since I keep getting combos when I go to movies, I keep getting these digital movie coupons. So I had one that was going to expire and I found this, I was a little interested so I watched it.
I have to say right away this is a strange movie. It actually starts off really dark and depressing, honestly, I considered turning it off but continued as it started to the movie along/brighten up. (I know this movie deals with serious and important issues, not making light of them just saying I'm not always in the mood to watch it/think about it.)
I would also like to say that this movie deals with S&M and I am convinced at least partially inspired "Fifty Shades of Grey" (the main character here is even named Mr. Grey!). Some of these scenes are intense/borderline disturbing, if that bothers you then perhaps you shouldn't watch it.
The story is interesting as are the characters (though Mr. Grey is a piece of crap for most of the movie), it's just told so strangely that it's hard to enjoy the movie. Oh also, this has full-frontal nudity and a fairly explicit sex scene. Aside from that, there are lots of images of a woman cutting herself, heavy stuff for sure.
Despite all the weirdness Lee is an interesting and likable character, I think she grows and changes in a realistic and interesting way. Grey is mostly trash but manages to come around into a less shitty person by the end. So I liked the movie but would only give it a cautious recommendation. Certainly ages 18+ plus for a whole lot of adult content. 7 out of 10 from me, if you want to see lots of S&M and a truly bizarre work environment, maybe this is for you.
