Initial Thoughts:
I know I’m behind the times as I had never seen anything with Syndey Sweeney, so this was on Amazon Prime and while it didn’t get good reviews, I decided to give it a watch.
Main Points:
I liked this movie, the reviews are harsh but I thought Syndey Sweeney is good, as is the rest of the cast. The issue is the plot, it starts off believable but gets more and more ridiculous as it goes on, that said I did like the ending and of course there are some really good sex scenes (if you’re into that) and I liked seeing Montreal featured prominently (not a Canadian city that often gets much attention). The biggest issue is that, especially for the last 30 or minutes, is that I can’t fathom why the police weren’t called/involved and Pippa, Syndey’s character, acts in such an extreme way that it’s hard to imagine someone actually doing these things.
Final Thoughts:
There are a couple of twists that I didn’t see coming and I think it was an interesting idea for a movie, just needed more editing/reworking perhaps. There is a fair bit of nudity (not full frontal) and some explicit sex scenes. There is also some blood and a fairly gross/body horror scene towards the end where I had to look away, so ages 19+ for sure. I liked hearing a Billy Idol song as they are rarely used in movies anymore, especially “Eyes without a Face”. While it is almost 2 hours I didn’t find it too long, a rare statement from me! I give it 7 out of 10 and a mild recommendation, if you enjoy Syndey Sweeny and don’t mind sex, nudity, coarse language and some body horror, this might be worth a watch, maybe even for a date night.
