In “Vivian Awakened”, we embark on an intimate journey through the eyes of Sebastian, a loving husband who observes and supports his wife’s remarkable transformation. Vivian, once a traditional housewife, begins to confront her own desires, breaking free from societal expectations, leading to an evolution that neither of them saw coming.

This evocative tale touches on the vulnerabilities and uncertainties that come with embracing change within a marriage. As Vivian steps into her empowerment, Sebastian grapples with his own emotions, ranging from pride to insecurity, making it a narrative that’s as much about his evolution as hers.

Initial Thoughts:

Full transparency I got this book free in exchange for an honest review, that said I quite enjoy non-fiction and I am always interested in any book in sexuality, so it was a natural fit for me. I think human behavior and sexuality are always fascinating topics (sex can also be hot to read about it!), so I was excited to hear what this book had to offer. It’s also nice as I can talk with the author (something I can’t usually do) since I contacted him initially about this on Discord.

Main Points:

This is a different book from most non-fiction as the author writes it very much as a conversation he is having with the reader. I liked how many chapters start with a relevant quote and how he explains any terms that come up like hotwife or compersion. He also made the really smart decision to get his wife’s take on what happens after most of the sections (interludes I believe he calls them). I always prefer to hear a woman’s voice over a man’s and Nina Rosová not only does a good job but has an accent that I think would be fairly close to Vivian’s. I really enjoyed how we are on a journey with Sebastian and he gives all the details (except for one part) on how they went from a vanilla couple to swingers. While he makes mistakes I thought it was also really good how he cares very much about Vivian’s empowerment/what makes her happy. It does sound like he and his wife have a very strong connection and have opened up sexually together.

There are a couple of flaws, however, I found the male narrator to have an annoying voice, I think it was also because he would try to emote what was going on but it just wasn’t convincing and I just didn’t like the emphasis he put on words, they just sounded strange. The female narrator did a much better job but perhaps some of my annoyance could be that I listen at 1.2 times speed. Aside from the sex scenes, and there are a few really good ones, this book has a lot of practical advice on how to become a swinger, how the adult dating/lifestyle apps work and most importantly what things not to do/mistakes to learn from. I also thought it was strange for a book detailing Sebastian and Vivian’s awakening/empowerment to leave out details, though perhaps this was at his wife’s request. For a book that seemed to be well researched there is a part where they are in a sex club (twice in the book actually) and he says the dungeon room had an “x-shaped cross” this is called a St. Andrew’s cross and I thought it odd he wouldn’t put that detail in.

Final Thoughts:

This book surprised me several times, I really like how he made a big effort to show how his wife was feeling on decisions made and their sexual encounters. I also thought that asking people to leave a review (and submit true swinger stories to him for the next book) at the end was a unique and interesting approach. I enjoyed this book and I look forward to what Sebastian does in the future. 7.5 out of 10 from me and would recommend this to anyone interested in the subject. Obviously adults only, lots of graphic sexual descriptions and plenty of coarse language, ages 21+. It was a good length, and under 10 hours and left me wanting to know what happened next.

  • "Charles O’Keefe’s descriptions immediately pulled me in and made the characters relatable. Starting with a strong hook—when Joseph realizes he’s finally met the woman of his dreams (Casandra)—the plot stays steadily exciting throughout.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants an exciting new read, and a great escape from reality."
