Initial Thoughts:

In 2021 we were still in the midst of the pandemic and this movie came out called “Nobody” and introduced me to an unlikely action hero, Bob Odenkirk. I knew Odenkirk of course, from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul but I have never seen him in an action movie. I love the first movie, it was a ton of over-the-top fun, so when 2 came out there was never a doubt I’d see it. I was also glad when Rebecca, from TV Show in Space and Geekshow, said she enjoyed it as I find her reviews to be very accurate. So my wife and I saw this today at a matinee.

Main Points:

The movie follows the formula set out by the first one, not to the letter but fairly closely, I’m not complaining about this I think anytime there is a sequel you want familiar beats with just minor changes, and that’s what you get here. Odenkirk does a great job, as does Connie Nelson, Christopher Lloyd, Sharon Stone and RZA. After Odenkirk had a heart attack just after filming the first movie I didn’t think we’d ever get a sequel but I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong.

I love a dark comedy, especially one that has lots of action and doesn’t take itself seriously, which is exactly what you get here. Sure there’s a plot and it makes sense why Hutch and his family are in this small town but quickly you head towards what you wanted the whole movie, a huge showdown where you know a whole lot of people are going to get kill and you’re not disappointed here. I was laughing and smiling from 10 minutes in and I was sorry to see it end, it’s also the perfect length at 1.5 hours, that’s all 99% of action movies need.

Final Thoughts:

Please don’t bring your kids to this, there is a ton of graphic violence, lots of blood, some coarse language and mature themes, it’s a R movie so ages 18+. I really enjoyed this movie, maybe not quite as much as the first one but if they can come with a good idea for a 3rd, I’m in! I give this a solid 7.5 out of 10 and would recommend it to anyone who wants a fun, no holds barred, over the top action movie with a lot of laughs and good performances all around. See it theatres while you can, I’m glad I did!

  • "Charles O’Keefe’s descriptions immediately pulled me in and made the characters relatable. Starting with a strong hook—when Joseph realizes he’s finally met the woman of his dreams (Casandra)—the plot stays steadily exciting throughout.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants an exciting new read, and a great escape from reality."
