Initial Thoughts:

I am a fan of the “Naked Gun” movies with Leslie Nielsen so of course I was interested to see what Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson could do. After hearing Rebecca (from Geekshow and TV Show in Space) say she enjoyed it, I suggested we go and we went today.

Main Points:

I was glad to see that they kept to over the top/weirdness/slapstick nature of the movies here. As I said to my friend Danny, they did a good job capturing the spirit of the films. As always the story is pretty thin with a ridiculous villain but that’s the point of these movies. Liam Neeson does a good job as Drebin Jr. and really liked Pamela Anderson as Beth Davenport. There are plenty of nods to the original and I was happy with how they handled O.J. (who was in the previous movies). I laughed throughout but I couldn’t help coming away that it just wasn’t as good as the original. There are 5-6 parts in here, however, that really made me laugh as I do like offbeat/dry humor.

Final Thoughts:

Stick around for a short scene at the end and the credits do indeed have a few fun (possibly made up) people as they did in the original. Sticking around for a while will also give you the chance to hear Liam Neeson do some singing, which was a good laugh. If you liked the originals or even if you just like slapstick/offbeat humor I would recommend seeing this. I give this 7.5 out of 10, and I would certainly see a sequel if they can maintain the quality. Please don’t take your kids to this, coarse language. sexual situations and some violence, ages 14+.

  • "Charles O’Keefe’s descriptions immediately pulled me in and made the characters relatable. Starting with a strong hook—when Joseph realizes he’s finally met the woman of his dreams (Casandra)—the plot stays steadily exciting throughout.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants an exciting new read, and a great escape from reality."
