Initial Thoughts:

We watched an interview on Graham Norton with Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz. I hadn’t seen Foxx interviewed in a long time, as he had a big health scare, and Diaz just hasn’t done anything in an even longer time, so my curiosity for this movie was piqued. So we gave it a watch last night on Netflix.

Main Points:

Thankfully I was stoned when I watched this movie, it really helps when the plot is crummy because you can laugh more, at both the funny and un-intentionally funny parts, and enjoy the action scenes more. I’ll do some positive though, Jamie Foxx is always good and he tries his best here, he’s funny, charming and does the action scenes well, his character is likable too. Same goes for Diaz, she’s as good as always and it was fun seeing her in so many action scenes and she also has some good funny moments. Everyone in this movie does their best, it’s mainly that the plot is, mostly, very predictable and still completely ridiculous. I suppose if you watch the preview, and glance at a reviews either on IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes, you know what you’re going to get. There are some good car chases, fun action scenes, and completely over the top performances that did make me laugh, though Glenn Close’s amazing talents are wasted here, the same goes for Kyle Chandler (though of course that’s not a fair comparison).

Final Thoughts:

This is a movie to watch for date night or when you’re really stoned or even better both! Seriously though there’s just not much here and it’s so obviously a copy of the Mark Wahlberg movie “A Family Plan” with a few changes just so it’s not identical. I’m sure I’ve seen worse movies but it’s been a while, I can only give this 5.5 out of 10. Not for kids with lots of violence, some suggestive dialogue and coarse language, ages 13+. You could watch this movie but I’m sure there is something better you could do with your time, still if your significant other wants to watch it, there are worse ways to pass the time.

"Charles O’Keefe’s descriptions immediately pulled me in and made the characters relatable. Starting with a strong hook—when Joseph realizes he’s finally met the woman of his dreams (Casandra)—the plot stays steadily exciting throughout.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants an exciting new read, and a great escape from reality."
